Trump and Putin Scheduled for Crucial Call Amidst Ongoing Conflict

Washington: US President Donald Trump announced that he will be speaking with Russian President Vladimir Putin at 1400GMT on Thursday. This interaction is set to take place amidst heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with the US playing a significant role in mediation efforts.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump communicated the upcoming call through a post on Truth Social, saying, “Will be speaking to President Putin of Russia at 10:00 A.M. Thank you!” This announcement was echoed by Putin during an exhibition in Moscow, where he mentioned his intent to discuss promoting Russian brands in the American market during their conversation.

The timing of this call is notable as it comes while the US is actively seeking ways to mediate the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Trump has taken steps to position himself as a possible peace broker, aiming to negotiate a resolution between the two nations.

These discussions are expected to cover not only the immediate bilateral issues but also broader regional security concerns that have global implications. Since the beginning of Trump’s second presidential term, he and Putin have engaged in several phone calls, starting with their initial conversation on February 12.
