A strong economy is necessary in order to continue the anti-occupation struggle for the reunification of our country, for which the cohesion of the society is also necessary, Labour Minister Yiannis Panayiotou said on Friday.
Addressing an event in the village of Panagia, in Paphos district, for the name day of the first President of the Republic, Archbishop Makarios III, the Minister said that this struggle to reunite our island continues because Turkey is still very unwavering in its expansionist policy.
Panayiotou went on to say that if Turkish Cypriots recognize the Republic of Cyprus as their homeland, they will be able to free themselves from the control of Turkey.
The Minister said that we still have a way to go so that social inequalities are limited and the growth of the economy is reflected in the citizens’ quality of life.
He said that struggles are ahead and strengthening our defense policy is being implemented through the President’s governance program so that citizens feel safe and secure.
