RUSSIAN-TURKISH RELATIONS NORMALISED RAPIDLY – TURKISH PREMIER

MOSCOW, -- Relations between Moscow and Ankara are being normalised at a rapid pace, Turkish Prime Minister, Binali Yildirim, said at a meeting with speaker of Russia's Federation Council (upper house of parliament), Valentina Matviyenko on Tuesday, Russia's TASS news agency reports.

"We have left behind the period that brought great grief to our countries," he said.

"Our relations are being normalised quickly. It is very easy to damage relations, and it is very difficult to iron them out. What has been created over the years is sometimes lost within minutes," the premier added.

According to Yildirim, the parties "learned their lessons from this incident."

"A lot has been lost by Turkey and Russia during this period of time. We need to exert huge efforts to bridge this gap," he said.

The premier described meetings between the two countries' leaders in August and October as important steps in restoring bilateral ties.-
