Zaporizhzhia: At least six people were killed and more than 20 others injured in a Russian airstrike on Ukraine’s southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, according to Zaporizhzhia Governor Ivan Fedorov. The strike occurred on Tuesday and targeted a critical infrastructure facility in the city, leading to significant damage and a fire, which was later extinguished.
According to Anadolu Agency, the airstrike initially resulted in reports of two injuries, but the numbers were later revised by Governor Fedorov, who confirmed the death of six individuals and stated that 24 people sought medical assistance following the incident. Zaporizhzhia is situated approximately 40 kilometers from the front line with Moscow, making it a frequent target in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, which has persisted for nearly 1,000 days.
Russia’s Defense Ministry stated that its forces conducted airstrikes aimed at damaging military airfield infrastructure, missile weaponry workshops, and energy facilities utilized by the Ukrainian
army.
