ANKARA -- Turkish military sources described on Thursday the visit by Russian Chief of General Staff Gen. Valery Gerasimov to Turkey and meeting with Turkish counterpart Gen. Hulusi Akar as fruitful and positive.
Turkish news agency (Anadolu) quoting the sources as saying the meeting would pave the way for boosting cooperation between the two armies.
The visit also vital in terms of bringing a "joint perspective" on problematic areas in the Middle East, the source added.
Relations between the two countries improved remarkably after meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President Vladimir Putin last August.
