Russia accuses Ukraine of using cluster bombs

Russia on Saturday accused Kyiv of using cluster bombs in its Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine.

In a statement on Telegram, Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov claimed that at least three cluster bombs were fired by Ukrainian troops at the Zhuravlyovka village.

According to Gladkov, at least six areas of the region were shelled from artillery, grenade launchers, mortars, and attacked with kamikaze drones.

The White House earlier this month confirmed the US would supply Kyiv with the widely condemned bombs as part of a new $800 million security package.

Ukrainian drones also attacked a Russian military depot in Crimea, which has been under Russia's control since 2014, local authorities said in a separate statement.

"As a result of an attack by an enemy drone on the Krasnogvardeysky district, a detonation occurred at an ammunition depot. According to preliminary data, there are no destructions and casualties," Governor Sergey Aksyonov wrote on Telegram.

Aksyonov asked residents to remain calm and trust only official sources of information, noting that all relevant services were involved in relief efforts.

He said residents of settlements within a radius of 5 km from the incident site were being evacuated and traffic on the Crimean railway was halted.
