Revenue from tourism reached pound 418 million in the first four months of 2023, marking an increase of 30% compared with the respective period of last year and 11.30% compared with the corresponding period of 2019, a record-year for Cyprus' tourism.
According to the results of the Passenger Survey carried out by the Statistical Service (Cystat) revenue from tourism in April amounted to pound 217.6 up by 17.6% compared with April 2022, while compared with April of 2019 revenue were up by 16.6%.
The average expenditure per person was pound 634.89 in April 2023 compared to pound 639.65 in April 2022, recording a decrease of 0.7%, Cystat added.
Tourists from Israel, which was the second largest market with 9.9% of tourist arrivals in April, showed the highest expenditure per day with pound 120.23 on average, followed by tourists from the United Kingdom (the largest tourist market with 36.3% of the total tourists in April 2023) who spent on average pound 79.51 per day.
Tourists from Poland (the third largest market with 6.7%), spent on average pound 77.67 per day, Cystat said.
