Real Madrid's Alvaro Rodriguez scored a late equalizer as the Whites managed a 1-1 draw with 10-man Atletico Madrid in a Saturday derby in the Spanish La Liga.
Atletico Madrid drew first blood at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium as Uruguayan central defender Jose Maria Gimenez scored on a header after Antoine Griezmann crossed a freekick in the 78th minute.
But Atletico Madrid could not secure the lead as the defending Spanish champions' 18-year-old forward Alvaro Rodriguez scored on a header seven minutes later.
Several minutes before Atletico Madrid's goal, Argentine winger Angel Correa was sent off for elbowing defender Antonio Rudiger.
The result means the points were shared but Real Madrid's La Liga title hopes were blown.
Second-place Real Madrid have 52 points in 23 matches, seven behind Barcelona.
On Sunday, Barca may extend their lead to 10 points with a win as they will visit Almeria, who are in the league's relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are fourth with 42 points.
