Officials from 24 departments of the public service of the Republic of Cyprus and members of volunteer teams participated in a two-day seminar, which started on Thursday, and ended on Friday and was, organised by the Cyprus Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) in Larnaca, on search and rescue issues.
A JRCC post on social media said that the seminar was attended by more than 70 officials and officers from 24 public service departments and volunteer groups.’
As explained, the seminar program included informative presentations on issues of coordination of E-D operations, as well as on new procedures for dealing with complex and sophisticated E-D incidents, such as diving accidents and incidents with the possible existence of Radiological – Biological – Chemical – Nuclear material.
Cypriot Defence Minister, Vassilis Palmas, on Thursday addressed the launch of the seminar and among other things, as stated in the post, ‘praised the professionalism and dedication of all state service personnel and volunteers
, who are called upon to be constantly in full operational readiness in order to achieve the goal of zero loss of life in E-D incidents.’
He also stressed ‘the importance of implementing such actions that further enhance interoperability and effective cooperation between all stakeholders.’
