The University of Cyprus is proud to announce the establishment of the "Chair of Artificial Intelligence" at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Cyprus. The signing of the agreement was held on Wednesday, September 25th. XM Group undertakes the funding of the Chair for 10 consecutive years, with the intention of promoting research and education and the exploitation of research results in the field of AI. The funding of more than one million euros, entails the creation of the Chair and its establishment through the appointment of a Professor. This collaboration is the culmination of the University's outward-looking approach and strong strategic alliances with external partners. The establishment of the XM Chair in Artificial Intelligence (AI) aims to foster cutting-edge research and education. Through the Chair, a significant set of actions will be promoted in the field of AI, including research, education, student placements, and human resource development. The Vice Rector of Academic A ffairs, Professor Eleni - Tatiana Synodinou, presented the objectives, the actions and the prospects through the establishment of the XM Chair. The establishment of the XM Chair and the emerging collaborative research prospects, demonstrate the high value of research, expertise, and innovation produced at the University of Cyprus. The Vice Rector pointed out that the University of Cyprus seeks to lead as a fundamental pillar of the Cypriot research ecosystem and as a pole of international research excellence and distinction. The opening of the XM Chair is expected to enrich and promote research in the field of AI, with multiple benefits for the academic community, society and the economy. It is expected to be established as an essential hub of academic excellence and contribute to the development of the University in an interdisciplinary manner.
