President Nikos Christodoulides wishes every success to the Cypriot athletes of the Paris Paralympic Games, announcing, at the same time, that there will be steps to upgrade the infrastructure in Cyprus.
In a written statement ahead of the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games, in Paris, on Wednesday President Christodoulides wished the Cypriot team every success, along with the certainty that once again our athletes will become the best ambassadors of the Republic of Cyprus and in this top level sporting event.
“Beyond the noble ambition for distinction, the aim of these events is to raise awareness for our fellow human beings with disabilities, to promote fair play and to pass on the Olympic ideal, through the fight against all forms of discrimination,” the President underlined in his written statement.
At the same time, President Christodoulides noted that everyone’s wishes accompany the Cypriot team, the three-time Paralympian in swimming, Karolina Pelendritou, Maria Markou in weightlifting and Vik
toras Pentaras in athletics, as well as the entire Cypriot delegation.
Finally, the President of the Republic assures the athletes that they will have the practical and substantial support of the state and that in the next period there will be announcements regarding the upgrading of the infrastructure to meet the needs of Paralympic sports in the country.
