The Republic of Cyprus is sending medicines and medical supplies to Lebanon on Friday, President, Nikos Christodoulides announced, noting that he asked his counterparts and the heads of the EU institutions ‘to do the same’.

In a post on social media, President Christodoulides said that the Republic of Cyprus, ‘responding to a request from the Government of Lebanon on serious needs of the country’s medical system, is today sending medicines and medical consumables to the neighbouring country’.

He notes that on Thursday, during the European Council, he asked his counterparts and the heads of the EU institutions to do the same, to support Lebanon and its people ‘in these very difficult times’.
