A discussion at the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign and European Affairs on the priorities of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union was postponed on Tuesday after, according to Committee President, Harris Georgiades, the Hungarian ambassador to Cyprus requested the session be held behind closed doors.
Hungary’s Ambassador to Cyprus was scheduled to present on Tuesday to the Foreign and European Affairs Committee the priorities of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Hungary took over on July 1 the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union for six months. Georgiades said that the Ambassador requested that the session be held behind closed doors.
He said that he mentioned to her that behind closed door sessions take place only for specific reasons, noting that there was no such reason in this particular case nor did it concern a matter of national security.
