Paris 2024: Vera Tugolukova 16th in Rhythmic Gymnastics, 12th place for Taradin

Cyprus’ Vera Tugolukova placed 16th overall in Rhythmic Gymnastics at the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris.

Despite her excellent performance, some minor flaws in each apparatus cost her in terms of points and she was left out of the final, which will be held tomorrow, but her overall performance showed once again that she is at a very high level, and left positive promises for the future.

The 15-year-old athlete, the 15th and last athlete from the Cyprus Olympic Committee’s team to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics, competed in Group A in the Advanced Individual Combined qualification and competed first in the Hoop where she got a total score of 31.150 and then in the Ball where she got a total score of 31.200.

Then, after a break of about 1.5 hours, Tugolukova competed in the Clubs where she got a total score of 30.600 and in the 4th and last Rotation she competed in the Ribbon where she got a score of 28.800. Her total score was 121.750.

Errors cost Taradin a spot in the final

Marseille left a bitter
taste in Denis Taradin’s mouth after the Kite competition did not go as the athlete, who was world No. 3 before the Games and was aiming for at least a medal, would have liked.

According to his coach, Alexey Chibizov, wrong choices were made and this cost him the race.

While the first day seemed not to be good for Taradin, being 9th overall in four races (two in the top ten, two out), the rest of the day was worse as he dropped to 10th (with a 16th place finish) and eventually 12th (with another 16th and a 19th place).

Taradin was hoping for more races (11+) to erase his three worst, which didn’t happen as only 7 of the 16 scheduled races were held due to the lack of wind.
