Palestinian Injured by Israeli Army Fire in Occupied East Jerusalem

East Jerusalem: A Palestinian man was injured by Israeli army fire on Thursday in occupied East Jerusalem, medics said. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that a 40-year-old man was shot in the thigh in the town of Jaba and was hospitalized for medical treatment.

According to Anadolu Agency, witnesses stated that Israeli army forces raided the town to demolish a house, leading to clashes with angry residents. This incident is part of Israel’s ongoing military escalation in the occupied West Bank, where at least 942 people have been killed and over 7,000 others injured in Israeli attacks since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.

The Israeli army has also initiated a deadly offensive in the northern West Bank since January, resulting in the deaths of more than 70 Palestinians and the displacement of thousands. In July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s longstanding occupation of Palestinian territories illegal and demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
