Outdoor work suspended between 12pm-4pm due to heatwave

Due to the heatwave in Cyprus, all outdoor heavy and moderate work should come to a halt on Thursday between 12:00 and 16:00 local time, as an orange warning for extremely high temperatures is currently in effect, according to the Labour Inspection Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance. A press release issued by the Department informed that it was required to cease all outdoor heavy and moderate work, and the transport and/or delivery of products using two-wheeled vehicles (e.g. motorcycle, moped, bicycle) or personal mobility devices (scooters, e-scooters). This includes the transportation or the delivery of products, food, mail, it added. The suspension of work applies in inland areas with an altitude below 300 metres, located more than 10 kilometres from the coastline, as well as in higher mountainous areas with an altitude above 1150 metres.
