NEW YORK: American artificial intelligence company OpenAI introduced Thursday ChatGPT search for users to get fast answers with links to relevant web sources. “ChatGPT can now search the web in a much better way than before,” the company said in a blog post. “You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for.”
According to Anadolu Agency, this new feature blends the benefits of a natural language interface with the value of up-to-date sports scores, news, stock quotes, and more. Users can either rely on ChatGPT to determine when to search the web based on their queries or manually initiate a search by clicking the web search icon.
OpenAI has partnered with a range of news and data providers to incorporate up-to-date information and introduce new visual designs for categories like weather, stocks, sports, news, and maps. The ChatGPT Search feature will be available on chatgpt.com, as well as on desktop and mobile apps.
Al
l ChatGPT Plus and Team users, along with those on the SearchGPT waitlist, will have immediate access to ChatGPT Search. Enterprise and Edu users are expected to gain access in the coming weeks, with a broader rollout planned for all free users over the next few months.
This development comes amid increasing competition in the search engine market, with major players such as Google, Microsoft’s Bing, and Perplexity vying for dominance.
