Dearborn: Abdullah H. Hammoud, the Muslim mayor of Dearborn, Michigan, has publicly announced his refusal to meet with Donald Trump during the former president's campaign visit to the city. Hammoud cited Trump's controversial policies, particularly the "Muslim Ban," as the primary reason for his decision. In a statement posted on X, the mayor expressed the community's long-standing grievances against Trump, emphasizing that many residents have suffered due to his policies. According to Anadolu Agency, Hammoud has been vocal about his stance, stating, "Trump will never be my president," echoing the sentiments of many in Dearborn. The mayor's refusal highlights a broader discontent among local leaders who feel that political narratives often neglect the challenges faced by marginalized communities. Hammoud also criticized the Democratic Party for their role in the ongoing situation in Gaza, urging them to reconsider their actions and the implications of their political decisions. The announcement comes just d ays before the U.S. Election Day on November 5, where both presidential and congressional elections will take place. As of now, more than 68 million Americans have already cast their votes early. Data from the University of Florida's Election Lab shows that approximately 1 million more Democrats than Republicans have participated in early voting, either in-person or through mail ballots. Meanwhile, international tensions remain high as Israel continues its offensive on Gaza despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire. The ongoing conflict, which was sparked by an attack last year by a Palestinian resistance group, has resulted in over 43,200 deaths and more than 101,800 injuries, predominantly affecting women and children, as reported by local health authorities. Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice regarding its actions in Gaza.
