NBA All-Star guard Ja Morant carried his team Memphis Grizzlies to a 129-122 win over the Houston Rockets, scoring 49 points for the visitors in a Friday game.
Morant, 23, made eight assists as well. Another Memphis guard, John Konchar, racked up 17 points at Toyota Center in Houston.
Desmond Bane added 14 points for the Grizzlies. He also made seven assists.
Rockets guard Jalen Green scored 33 points to lead his team.
Alperen Sengun, Rockets’ Turkish center, posted a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds.
Kevin Porter Jr. added 18 points for the Rockets.
Second in the Western Conference, the Grizzlies have 2-0 win/loss record.

The Denver Nuggets defeated defending NBA champions Golden State Warriors 128-123 in San Francisco.
Denver’s Serbian superstar Nikola Jokic posted a triple-double with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
Stephen Curry, Warriors’ US point guard, scored 34 points.
Both teams are going 1-1 each this season.
