The Minister of Finance Makis Keravnos is traveling to Spain, in order to participate, on Friday and Saturday, in the informal meetings of Eurogroup and ECOFIN. According to a press release from the Ministry of Finance, Keravnos will take part in the informal meeting of the Eurozone Finance Ministers, in which Eurogroup members will exchange views with the President of the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, Irene Tinagli, regarding macroeconomic developments in the eurozone, after the presentation by the European Commission of the summer (interim) economic forecast. Also, the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Commission are expected to inform the Ministers regarding the monetary policy. The informal meeting of ECOFIN in Spain will focus on the interplay between monetary and fiscal policy and how both can address existing challenges, as well as future priorities to achieve the EU's strategic goals for the green and digital transition. The Ministry of Finance notes that the Ministers are also expected to exchange views regarding the promotion of the EU's strategic autonomy and international economic cooperation, to strengthen its role in the international geopolitical scene. Finally, the Ministers of Finance will have a joint meeting with their counterparts from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). The meeting will discuss ways to further implement the Global Gateway investment agenda agreed by EU and CELAC leaders at the summit last July, as well as the growing financing needs of vulnerable countries, in the light of the difficult geopolitical situation, recognizing the important role that the EU can play in this area.
