A special event on the metaverse Thursday is set to commemorate the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, on the 84th anniversary of his death.

The event will be held for those who will be unable to attend in person a yearly memorial at Ataturk’s mausoleum, Anitkabir, in the capital Ankara on Nov. 10.

Visitors from all over the world as well as in Türkiye will be able to participate in the event to begin at 9.05 a.m. Turkish time (0605GMT) and pay their respects with their digital avatars, followed by the Turkish National Anthem.

The model of Anitkabir that will host the virtual event was created with a program developed by Turkish defense and aerospace technology firm BITES.

Users will be able to attend the event with others and interact with each other via their customizable avatars.

A virtual room containing photos of Ataturk will also be available.

Those who intend to join the event, which will continue until the end of the month, are required to register for free at bitesevent.xperexpo.com/register.
