Meta: Meta Platforms’ Threads app, which is a rival to X, formerly known as Twitter, now has reached almost 275 million monthly active users, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
According to Anadolu Agency, Zuckerberg highlighted the app’s growth trajectory during an earnings call held late Wednesday following the release of Meta’s financial results. “It has been growing more than 1 million sign-ups per day,” he stated. He further emphasized the increasing user engagement, asserting that Threads is on track to become Meta’s next major social app.
The app’s user base has seen significant growth, with approximately 200 million monthly active users reported during the April to June period, as noted in Meta’s financial report released in July. The latest figures represent a 175% increase from the July to September period of 2023, when Threads had 100 million users.
Threads, which was launched in July 2023, serves as a direct competitor to Elon Musk’s X. Musk acquired Twitter in 2022 for $44 billion, rebranding
it as X. The rapid growth of Threads underscores the competitive landscape of social media platforms as they vie for user engagement and market dominance.
