Kremlin reiterates discussion on Zelenskyy’s peace formula ‘devoid of prospects for any result’

ISTANBUL: The Kremlin on Monday reiterated that discussions on the peace formula proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are ‘devoid of prospects for any result.’

‘Without our participation, of course, any discussions are possible, but they are devoid of prospects for any result,’ spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in a press briefing in Moscow.

Commenting on the fourth national security advisors meeting on Zelenskyy’s proposal in Davos on Sunday, Peskov said the talks are ‘conversations for the sake of conversation’ and cannot achieve a result because Russia is not present.

‘Essentially, these are conversations for the sake of conversations. This is a process that is not and cannot be aimed at achieving a specific result for an obvious and simple reason: we are not participating,’ he added.

Zelenskyy’s formula, which consists of 10 conditions, was laid out at the 2022 G-20 summit held in Indonesia, with its final step being signing a peace accord. It also focuses on issues such as nuclear
safety and food and energy security.

Peskov said Ukraine’s ban on any negotiations with Moscow should not be forgotten, expressing that Russia’s position is to achieve its goals and solve its security issues through diplomatic means.

‘But, in the conditions of the absolute impossibility of this, the reluctance of the countries of the collective West, the reluctance of Ukraine to take into account our security considerations, we are conducting and continuing a special military operation, through which we will achieve our goals,’ he added.
