Kremlin Confirms Scheduled Phone Call Between Trump and Putin

Moscow: US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are set to have a phone conversation on Tuesday, as announced by the Kremlin on Monday.

According to Anadolu Agency, this call is part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to negotiate a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine, a topic Trump mentioned to reporters while on Air Force One.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the planned conversation in response to media inquiries. However, Peskov refrained from providing specifics about the agenda or content of the discussion, emphasizing the confidentiality of the details.

In other developments, Washington’s decision to reduce funding for the US Agency for Global Media, which oversees Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, was described by Peskov as an ‘internal decision.’ The funding cuts followed an executive order signed by Trump, leading to budget reductions for these and other agencies. Consequently, over 1,300 employees of Voice of America were informed of their administrative leave status.
