Kranidiotis’ vision leads our Cyprus efforts, Foreign Ministry says

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remembers the legacy and vision of Cypriot born Giannos Kranidiotis, former Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece, who tragically lost his life in a plane accident 25 years ago, on board a presidential jet.

“Today marks 25 years since the untimely death of Giannos Kranidiotis in the tragic plane accident that claimed the lives of six other people of his entourage,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says in its message.

“His vision for a liberated and European Cyprus continues to guide our efforts to achieve a solution to the Cyprus problem on the basis of the UN Resolutions, and the principles and values of the EU,” it concludes.

Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third.
