Koumis travelling to Belgium for EU Tourism Ministers informal meeting


Cyprus’ Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, is travelling to La Hulpe, in Belgium, on Monday for the informal meeting of the EU Tourism Ministers organised in the framework of the Belgian Presidency.

Central theme of the session, according to an announcement, is the need for action by all EU member states in order to accelerate both the green and digital transitions, ‘issues which the Belgian Presidency has placed high on its priorities, in order to strengthen the resilience of the tourism ecosystem.’

The Belgian Presidency, the announcement said, ‘wishes to place particular emphasis on sustainable development and improving the attractiveness of Europe through the tourism ecosystem’.

It is added that, within the context of the session, the European Ministers ‘will be invited to express their views on the content and progress of the implementation of the twofold transition’ (green and digital), ‘which is the main tool for charting the trajectory of tourism in the EU’.

In addition, during the session
, Ministers will have the opportunity to exchange views on the tourism perspective at the European level, but also the expectations of each member state with reference to the Declaration of Palma de Mallorca, which was signed during the Spanish Presidency, the announcement concludes.
