An explosive device was thrown toward officers in Kosovo's Mitrovica district late Saturday, police said on Sunday.
Investigators reached the site and initiated an inquiry into the incident that occurred at around 2.20 a.m. on Ivo Llola Ribar street.
While the condition of the officers attacked was not mentioned, the press release said prosecutors had registered a criminal case and ordered an investigation.
Tensions have risen ahead of local elections scheduled for April 23 in northern Kosovo, which were delayed last year when Kosovo attempted to require ethnic Serbs to change their old car plates that date before 1999.
Kosovo, predominantly inhabited by Albanians, broke from Serbia in 1999 and declared independence in 2008. But Serbia has not recognized the independence and sees its former province as part of its territory.
