Kaia Kanepi eliminated 2016 French Open winner Garbine Muguruza in the French Open first round match on Sunday.
The 36-year-old Estonian, who was also the oldest woman in the tournament, shocked Spanish world No.10 with 2-6, 6-3 and 6-4 sets.
“I do get nervous, it’s not easy to play a tough opponent in the first round, but I think I enjoy playing Grand Slams more and I think the motivation is higher than smaller tournaments,” Kanepi said after the win. “I try to be more focused and not too emotional when I play in Slams.”
Spanish player Muguruza was world No.1 in 2017 when she bagged the Wimbledon singles title.
The Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open are the four major tournaments in tennis.
