Italian forward Balotelli tests positive for coronavirus

Italian football player Mario Balotelli tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday, his club in Turkiye said.

Adana Demirspor said on Twitter that Balotelli, 31, felt symptoms to undergo a COVID-19 PCR test in Italy, which later resulted in positive.

The Spor Toto Super Lig club added that Balotelli is now in isolation at his home in Italy and will stay there, and his treatment has begun as well.

His club wished Balotelli a speedy recovery.

Adana Demirspor will visit Istanbul’s Fenerbahce in a Super Lig match on Monday, Jan. 10.

Balotelli is likely to miss the match at Ulker Stadium for health reasons.

The former Inter Milan and Manchester City forward joined Adana Demirspor from Italy’s Monza in July 2021.

He was a three-time Italian champion with Inter in 2008-2010.

In 2010, Balotelli helped Inter win the UEFA Champions League.

He won the 2012 English Premier League title with Manchester City.
