Scientists, academics, and professionals from the Azerbaijani diaspora are meeting in Istanbul on Friday.
Hosted by Fuad Muradov, chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Affairs with Diaspora, the meeting has brought together more than two dozen participants from around 19 countries.
“This meeting will prepare for a big forum” of the Azeri diaspora which we plan for next year, said Muradov.
Azerbaijani officials at the event will be joined by their Turkish counterparts for joint discussions.
Professor Ahmet Cevat Acar, rector of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, in his opening remarks welcomed the Azeri diaspora community to Türkiye and reflected on the historic relations between the two countries.
Several participants virtually joined the Istanbul meeting from outside Türkiye.
The participants will discuss science, arts, economy, high tech, innovations, and higher education and the role of the diaspora community.
Lauding relations with Türkiye, the Azerbaijani officials said the diaspora communities of the two nations have held many meetings in the recent past, and “such efforts need to be strengthened.”
