Israel’s Knesset to vote on Netanyahu’s new gov’t Thursday

The Knesset (Israel’s parliament) will vote on the new government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, according to local media.

The Jerusalem Post newspaper said Netanyahu had sent out a message to members of his coalition government that a special session of the Knesset will be held on Thursday for a vote of confidence.

Last week, Netanyahu, a former prime minister, said he had completed the formation of his incoming government with his allies in the right-wing camp.

Netanyahu and his allies won a majority of seats in the Knesset in last month’s general election.

Netanyahu, 73, served as prime minister from 1996 to 1999, and then for 12 straight years, from 2009 to 2021.
