Israeli Forces Intensify Attacks in Gaza, Causing Daily Deaths and Injuries: Rights Group Reports

Geneva: Israeli forces kill at least 103 Palestinians and injure 223 others every day in attacks in the Gaza Strip, a Geneva-based rights group said on Thursday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor revealed in a statement that since resuming its operations on March 18, these daily fatalities and injuries have been a constant occurrence. The group emphasized that the Israeli forces have continued to employ tactics aimed at the eradication of the Palestinian population in the Strip by imposing harsh living conditions, including starvation and an intensified blockade, since October 7, 2023.

The Israeli army initiated an unexpected aerial campaign on March 18, resulting in 855 deaths and nearly 1,900 injuries, disrupting a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement established in January. This assault was accompanied by the closure of Gaza’s border crossings by Tel Aviv, blocking essential humanitarian aid and food supplies from reaching the 2.4 million residents of the territory.

The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reported that the Israeli army has been systematically targeting residential homes, often with occupants still inside, and tents where civilians seek refuge. This practice has been characterized as lacking military justification and aiming to further terrorize and destabilize the population.

Eyewitness accounts cited by the rights group describe incidents where Palestinian civilians attempting to flee were shot by Israeli forces, leaving bodies uncollected in the streets. The report also highlights that approximately 50,000 civilians remain trapped in Rafah amidst ongoing military operations.

In a single week, over 200,000 Palestinians have been displaced from their homes, with many others seeking temporary shelter. Across the Gaza Strip, basic services and security are severely lacking, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

The Euro-Med Monitor criticized the international community’s silence, which it claims emboldens Israel’s continued assaults. They argue that Israel’s actions violate international law, calling for urgent global intervention to halt what they describe as genocide in Gaza.

The report concluded by urging countries to meet their legal responsibilities, calling for the complete lifting of the blockade, unrestricted movement of people and goods, and protective measures for Palestinian civilians against Israel’s actions. Since October 2023, more than 50,200 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, have been killed, with over 113,900 injured in the ongoing military offensive.

The International Criminal Court had issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
