Gaza: At least 35 more Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, bringing the overall death toll since last year to 43,799, the Health Ministry in the enclave said on Saturday.
According to Anadolu Agency, a ministry statement added that some 103,601 others were injured in the ongoing assault that began on October 7 of last year. The statement further detailed that Israeli forces killed 35 people and injured 111 others in three massacres of families in the last 24 hours.
The ministry also noted that many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them. Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire, Israel has continued its offensive on the Gaza Strip following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7, 2023.
As a result of the Israeli onslaught, almost the entire population of the territory has been displaced, and an ongoing blockade has led to severe shortages of essential supplies such as food,
clean water, and medicine. Mediation efforts led by the US, Egypt, and Qatar to broker a Gaza cease-fire and prisoner swap agreement between Israel and Hamas have failed due to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to halt the war.
In addition to the humanitarian crisis, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
