ANKARA: The Israeli army carried out raids early Saturday and incursions into several Palestinian areas across the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian media.
The official Palestinian news agency, WAFA, reported that the army raided several villages in western Jenin and conducted field interrogations of residents.
It cited sources that said the army raided Qalqilya, deployed snipers in several areas in the city, and held youths under interrogation.
The Israeli forces also broke into the town of Idna in western Hebron and stormed a hall that shelters Palestinian laborers from Gaza, and detained a number of them, added WAFA.
On Friday, one Palestinian was killed and 10 injured in a rampage carried out by hundreds of Israeli settlers in the town of Al-Mughayyir in eastern Ramallah, where the settlers, who were protected by Israeli forces, burned more than 40 houses and vehicles.
Tensions have been high across the West Bank since Israel launched a deadly military offensive against the Gaza Strip afte
r a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.
At least 463 Palestinians have since been killed and over 4,750 injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied territory, according to the Health Ministry.
Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which in an interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza, where over 33,600 people have been killed.
