Iranian Chief of General Staff Mohammad Bagheri and his Iraqi counterpart Abdel Emir Yarallah met in Baghdad on Sunday to discuss military cooperation and counterterrorism efforts.
Bagheri met with Yarallah during his visit to Iraq, according to the Iranian news agency Tasnim.
During the meeting, Bagheri said, “Both countries have valuable experiences in counterterrorism. They can share their experiences with an appropriate program.”
Highlighting the border between the two countries, Bakiri suggested that joint military exercises “will contribute to ensuring the security of the borders.”
Yarallah expressed his readiness to enhance military, defense, education, joint exercises, and experience exchange within the Iraqi armed forces.
As part of his visit to Baghdad, Bagheri also met with Iraqi Defense Minister Thabet al-Abbasi.
Military cooperation and regional issues were discussed during the meeting.
