The Ministry of Interior issued a series of announcements ahead of June 9 elections for members of the European Parliament and local elections. The Chief Returning Officer referred to restrictions in force in accordance with the provisions of the current electoral legislation, for the day before and on the day of voting. According to the law, on the eve and on the day of the elections, it is prohibited to broadcast, advertise or publish any news or announcement, with or without payment, regarding the elections. It is also prohibited to hold public meetings and organise speeches and public debates, as well as to put up billboards of any party or candidate. The publication of the results of opinion polls or exit polls is also prohibited. A total of 17 polling stations abroad for 4,643 voters ------------ A total of 17 polling stations have been announced by the Ministry of Interior that will operate in Greece, the UK and Belgium to serve 4,643 voters to elect the next Cypriot MEPs. Three polling stations w ill operate in Athens for 1,558 voters. In Thessaloniki, there will be two polling stations for 661 voters. One polling station will operate in five other Greek cities, in Patras for 267 voters, in Ioannina for 114, in Komotini for 101, in Heraklion for 136 and in Volos for 86. In London, three polling stations will operate, one at the High Commission for 503 voters and two at the Cyprus Community Centre for 577 voters. One polling station will operate in each of three other cities in the United Kingdom, in Manchester for 98 voters, in Birmingham for 131 voters and in Glasgow for 58 voters. There will also be a polling station in Brussels for 353 voters. Instructions to voters ----------- In order to be able to vote in the upcoming elections, a person must be registered on the relevant electoral roll and, in the case of a Cypriot voter, present either their voter's registration card or their identity card at the polling station. With regard to voters of other Member States of the European Union, it is no ted that they vote for the Elections of Local Authorities by presenting either a voter's registration card or the document on the basis of which they have been registered on the relevant special electoral roll. They also vote for members of the European Parliament, by presenting the document on the basis of which they have been registered on the relevant special electoral roll. Where to vote ---------- Voters can find out about the polling station where they will vote, the polls in which they are entitled to vote and the number of preference crosses through the "Where and What I Vote" service available on the elections website at elections.gov.cy, by entering the number of the document with which they were registered on the electoral roll and their date of birth.
