Gunmen stormed a central Mexico resort on Sunday and opened fire, killing six adults and a 7-year-old child, officials reported. Dozens of holiday goers were present as the shooting took place, with eight people critically injured in the midafternoon incident at the La Palma resort, according to officials in the town of Cortazar in Guanajuato state. According to authorities, the incident was carried out by an armed group of 20 gunmen, and a group was specifically targeted. Bystanders at the resort were seen fleeing in fear at the sound of the gunfire in images shared on social media. Following the incident, the regional authorities launched a large-scale operation.
