'Today marks 24 years since the tragic loss of Yiannos Kranidiotis. Yiannos Kranidiotis was a tireless diplomat and a visionary politician', the statement says. 'As one of the insightful advocates of enlargement and deepening of the European Union, he worked arduously for the accession of Cyprus to the European Union. Yiann?s Kranidiotis' pioneering thinking continues to guide Greek diplomacy to this day, having left an indelible mark on Greek foreign policy', the Greek Foreign Ministry concludes.
