Greece to investigate major European rights group

The prosecutorial investigation intends to determine whether Human Rights 360 committed offenses such as the establishment of a criminal organization or money laundering, said Kathimerini daily.

The daily said the decision was made amid allegations of financial mismanagement by Human Rights 360 reported to the country’s money-laundering watchdog, which had already frozen the accounts of persons involved in the Athens-based NGO.

The organization gets major funding from European Economic Area (EEA) Fund and Norway, it stressed.

Founded in 2017, HR 360 has focused on the rights of refugees and others, particularly human rights violations at Greece’s border with Türkiye.
