Government’s commitment for lifting deadlock efforts unwavering, Hadjimanoli says

The Government's commitment for the continuation of efforts for lifting the deadlock and returning to the negotiating table remains unwavering, said Cyprus' Shipping Deputy Minister, Marina Hadjimanoli. In the memorial speech she delivered on Sunday, in Agros on behalf of the President, Nikos Christodoulides, Hadjimanoli referred to this year's 50th anniversary 'of the treacherous coup and the barbaric Turkish invasion of Cyprus.' She also referred to the 'imperative' need to end the current 'unacceptable status quo' and restore the basic freedoms and human rights for all Cypriots without exception. Hadjimanolis said, among other things, that the commitment of the Government of Nikos Christodoulides for continuation of the efforts to end the impasse and return to the negotiating table with the liberation and reunification of our homeland and its people in conditions of democracy, security, peace and progress and well-being, remained unwavering. Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results. The latest round of negotiations, in July 2017 at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana ended inconclusively. Source: Cyprus News Agency
