German, Turkish foreign ministers to meet next week

Turkish foreign minister will meet his German counterpart on March 8 in Germany, a Turkish diplomatic source said Friday.

According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, Sigmar Gabriel phoned Mevlut Cavusoglu on Friday to discuss a decision by a German local authority to cancel permission for a Thursday meeting where Turkey's justice minister was scheduled to address the Turkish community.

During the phone conservation, Cavusoglu expressed Turkey's discomfort over the incident, the source said.

On Thursday, the municipality of Gaggenau in southwest Germany revoked its permission for Bekir Bozdag's meeting, citing concerns about overcrowding. This prompted Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag to cancel his planned visit to Germany.

Cavusoglu also had a phone conversation with British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, and the two discussed current political and international developments, and humanitarian aid to Syria, the same source added.
