It is possible that the port being created in Gaza as part of the maritime corridor for the delivery of humanitarian aid, will be ready before May 1, Cyprus President, Nikos Christodoulides, said on Thursday.
Asked by journalists, upon his arrival at an event in Nicosia, if there were any news regarding the sea corridor for the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, President Christodoulides, citing information he received from US military officials during a recent meeting on the creation of the port there, said that, the goal was May 1, but according to the briefing he had, it seems that it could be completed sooner.
He noted that this would help increase the delivery of even more humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Nicosia, in cooperation with other states and international organisations, is implementing the Amalthea initiative for the delivery by sea of humanitarian aid to Gaza through Cyprus.
