Future of international law to be discussed at Trkiye’s Bogazici University conference

ISTANBUL: Trkiye’s Bogazici University will host the “Rethinking International Law After Gaza” conference that is scheduled for Aug. 3 – 4 in Istanbul.

The conference organized by the Faculty of Law will have discussions on international law, human rights and the global political system, according to a statement by the school.

It will bring together more than 100 of the world’s leading international law experts and feature topics such as “Justice for Palestine and the Potential of the International Court of Justice”, “International Humanitarian Law: Access, Rights, Digital Spaces, and Future” and “Social and Economic Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.”

Former UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Occupied Palestine Richard Falk, who was expelled by Israel during the reporting process of human rights violations in the Gaza Strip, will present his talk, ‘The Gaza Challenge: Does International Law Matter If It cannot be Enforced?’

Michael Lynk, former UN special rapporteur on human rights in
occupied Palestine, who is known for his work on the illegality of Israel’s settlements in the West Bank and apartheid practices, will deliver his presentation, ‘Israeli settlements under the Rome Statute of the ICC.’

UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing, Balakrishnan Rajagopal, and former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food, Hilal Elver, will be speakers at the symposium.
