Funeral held in Ukraine’s capital for German volunteer killed in Russia war


ISTANBUL: A funeral was held in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on Wednesday for a German volunteer killed earlier this month amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

The funeral ceremony for Diana Savita Wagner, who served as a combat medic in the Carpathian Sich 49th Infantry Battalion, was held in the St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery.

Wagner’s death was reported by multiple Russian and Ukrainian sources earlier this month, including the Russian Embassy in South Africa on X.

The Carpathian Sich 49th Infantry Battalion is a battalion of Ukraine’s Ground Forces.
