Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos began contacts in Washington as he attended American-Jewish Committee's World Forum and presented Cyprus's foreign policy priorities at a think tank. In statements in Washington, Constantinos Kombos said that he started contacts in the American capital today by presenting the foreign policy priorities of the Republic of Cyprus in a think tank, and then participating as a speaker at the World Forum of the American-Jewish Committee. There, as he explained, he had the opportunity to highlight the synergies that have developed between representatives of the two parties for the benefit of promoting the interests of the Republic of Cyprus in the American Congress. The Minister of Foreign Affairs said that tomorrow the events organised by PSEKA start. The purpose, as he noted, is to highlight the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion and also to strengthen the perception, the image, that exists in relation to the invasion and occupation of Cyprus. Cyprus has been divided s ince 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results. The latest round of negotiations, in July 2017 at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana ended inconclusively. Source: Cyprus News Agency
