The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Constantinos Kombos, is travelling to Brussels on Wednesday, where he will participate in the 3rd Indo-Pacific Ministerial Summit, the 24th EU – Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Ministerial Summit, as well as the Summit of the Informal Council of Foreign Ministers EE (Gymnich).
As stated in a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministerial Summit on the Indo-Pacific, which will take place on 1 and 2 February, is co-organised by the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, with the participation of EU Member States, countries of the Indo-Pacific region, and heads of regional organizations. On the afternoon of 2nd February, the 24th EU Ministerial Meeting with ASEAN Member States will take place.
On 2-3 February, the Foreign Minister will participate in the Gymnich proceedings hosted by the Foreign Minister of Belgium, Hadja Lahbib, whose cou
ntry holds the EU Council Presidency during the current semester (1/1/2024-30/6/2024). The proceedings will start on 2nd February with a dinner hosted by the Belgian Foreign Minister and to which the Foreign Ministers of the EU and ASEAN countries have been invited. This will be followed by a day-long meeting of Foreign Ministers on 3 February, during which they will focus on EU-Africa relations, EU-Turkey relations, and EU support for Ukraine.
During his stay in Brussels, Kombos will have contacts with his European counterparts, as well as separate meetings with Foreign Ministers of the Indo-Pacific region and other officials, the statement concludes.
