Bilateral ties, issues to do with the European agenda, the Cyprus problem and developments in the Middle East will be at the focus of discussions Foreign Affairs Minister Constantinos Kombos will have in Slovenia, on Friday, during a working visit.
Kombos is visiting the country following an invitation by his counterpart Tanja Fajon, a Foreign Affairs Ministry press release said on Thursday.
During his stay in Ljubljana the Foreign Affairs Minister will have a private meeting with Fajon followed by extended consultations with the participation of delegations of the two Ministries. They will then make statements to the press.
Kombos will be received by Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar and President of the National Assembly Urška Klakocar Zupancic.
Discussions, the Ministry said, “will focus on enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries, issues to do with the European agenda, the Cyprus problem, as well as developments in the Middle Eastern region.”
Cyprus has been divided since 1974, wh
en Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. Repeated rounds of UN-led peace talks have so far failed to yield results. The latest round of negotiations, in July 2017 at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana ended inconclusively.
