Finance Minister Makis Keravnos discussed on Wednesday issues of European interest, as well as ways to further strengthen relations between Cyprus and Sweden in matters of economic cooperation, during his meeting with the Swedish Ambassador to Cyprus Martin Hagstrom.
According to a Ministry statement, the Swedish Ambassador congratulated the Finance Minister on his assumption of office and assured him of the continuation of economic cooperation between Cyprus and Sweden, both within the framework of the European Union and on a bilateral level.
For his part, Keravnos briefed, as stated, Ambassador Hagstrom on the state of the Cypriot economy and stressed the commitment of the new Government towards implementing an economic policy within the framework of strict fiscal discipline and financial stability.
At the same time, he underlined that in the current juncture, close cooperation, coordination and exchange of views at the European level provides enormous added value, and he congratulated Sweden, as the country holding the EU Council Presidency, for the actions and initiatives it is undertaking, the statement concludes.
