Finance Minister Makis Keravnos departs for Brussels to attend the meeting of the Euro Area Finance Ministers (Eurogroup) and the EU Finance Ministers Council (Ecofin) on Thursday and Friday respectively. Eurozone Finance Ministers will discuss the economic and budgetary situation in the euro area and the fiscal policy guidance for 2024, following up on its March statement and are expected to adopt a statement on the fiscal stance for the euro area for 2024, with a view to the preparation of next year's national budgets, a press release issued by the Ministry says. The Eurogroup will also discuss the future of European capital and financial markets, following on from the Eurogroup meeting of 15 June, where the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the ECB and the Commission presented their views on the current state of play, while they also will continue their discussions on the digital euro, further to the single currency legislative package published by the European Commission on 28 June. Furthermore, Keravnos will attend an event held by the European Investment Bank for the financing of the reconstruction of Ukraine. On Friday, Keravnos will take part in the Ecofin meeting, where the Commission will outline its proposals on an adjusted package for the next generation of own resources. EU Ministers will be briefed about and exchange views on financial support to Ukraine in the context of the mid-term revision of the EU's long-term budget (Multiannual Financial Framework).
