FIBA EuroBasket trophy in Cyprus on November 21

The FIBA EuroBasket trophy will be welcomed to Cyprus on November 21, on the occasion of the match between the Cyprus National Team and the silver medal winners at the recent Olympic Games, but also of EuroBasket 2022, France, at the “Eleftheria” indoor hall.

According to a press release issued by the Cyprus Basketball Federation, as the organiser of the final phase of FIBA EuroBasket 2025, Cyprus will be among the destinations of the official trophy tour, adding that the arrival of the trophy was made possible due to the EuroBasket qualifiers.

As noted, Cypriot fans will have the opportunity during the Cyprus-France game in Nicosia to be photographed with the historic trophy, which, among others, was lifted by Nikos Galis in 1987, Michalis Kakiouzis in 2005 and most recently by Rudy Fernandez as captain of Spain in 2022.

It is also noted that Cyprus participates in the EuroBasket qualifiers, just like the other three co-hosts Latvia, Poland and Finland and that all four countries have already qualified f
or the final tournament as hosts, with the matches against France, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia serving as important tests for Cyprus -competitively and organizationally- for the final tournament, which will take place at ‘Spyros Kyprianou’ arena in Limassol between August 28 and September 5, 2025.

It is added that nine months before the first jump-ball in Limassol, a special event will be held on November 21 at ‘Eleftheria’ arena in Nicosia as part of the Cyprus-France game, while the trophy will be prominently displayed on the floor during the match.

In addition to the presence at the next official match of the Cyprus National Team, in the days before and after the game, the FIBA EuroBasket trophy will “visit” the last training session of the Cypriot national team, as well as the sponsors of CBF and the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 in Cyprus, while also stopping by various landmarks of the island for photo ops, the federation concluded.
